Brontex Tablets: What They Are and How to Use Them

Brontex Tablets help to loosen phlegm in cases of acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases accompanied by productive coughing.

Important Information Before Using Brontex Tablets:

If you are allergic to ambroxol or any of the other ingredients listed in section 6, do not use Brontex Tablets. These tablets are not suitable for children under the age of 6 due to their high content of the active substance. Exercise caution when using ambroxol if you have a renal function disorder or severe liver disease. You should administer it with longer intervals or in a lower dose.

Interaction with Other Medicines:

Inform your doctor or pharmacist about any other medicines you are taking, have recently taken, or might take. Combining medicines containing ambroxol with antitussives can lead to the dangerous obstruction of bronchial mucus due to the inhibition of the coughing reflex. The concomitant administration of ambroxol has been reported to increase the absorption of certain antibiotics into bronchial secretion.

Pregnancy, Breastfeeding, and Fertility:

Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Brontex Tablets if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or planning to have a baby. Limited data is available on the use of ambroxol in pregnant individuals, particularly in the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. Evaluate the use of Ambroxol carefully during pregnancy, especially in the first three months. Ambroxol has been found to be excreted in animal milk, but insufficient data exists regarding its use in humans. Therefore, use Ambroxol during breastfeeding only under the recommendation of a doctor.

Driving and Operating Machinery:

Ambroxol does not affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.

How to Use Brontex Tablets:

Always use Brontex Tablets as described in the leaflet or as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. Follow the administration instructions for a sufficient effect. The standard administration regimen is as follows:

• Children aged 6–12 years: Take ½ tablet 2–3 times per day (30–45 mg of ambroxol per day).
• Adults and children above the age of 12: Take 1 tablet 3 times per day (90 mg per day) for the first 2–3 days. Afterward, take 1 tablet twice per day (60 mg per day).
• If necessary, you can take up to 60 mg of ambroxol hydrochloride twice per day (120 mg per day) to potentially increase the effect of the medicine. Take the tablets after a meal.
• Drinking plenty of fluids helps facilitate the phlegm-loosening effect of ambroxol hydrochloride.
• In case of severe renal function disorder, reduce the dose or extend the administration intervals.

Duration of Treatment:

It is not recommended to use Brontex Tablets for more than 4-5 days unless your doctor prescribes it. If your symptoms do not improve or worsen within 4-5 days, consult your doctor.

Missed Dose:

If you forget to use Brontex Tablets, do not take a double dose. If you have missed a dose or taken too little, continue as prescribed in the instructions.

Storage of Brontex Tablets:

Keep Brontex Tablets out of the reach and sight of children. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton. No special storage conditions are required for this medicine. Properly dispose of any unused medicine by consulting your pharmacist.
