Bromhexine description

Bromhexine is a medication that contains the active ingredient bromhexine, belonging to a group of medicines called mucolytic agents. These agents are used to alleviate breathing difficulties caused by excessive mucus in the air passages. Bromhexine helps with expectoration and effectively reduces coughing. It works by thinning mucus and enhancing its secretion from the respiratory tract, particularly in cases of acute and chronic diseases affecting the bronchi and lungs, where there are disruptions in mucus excretion and flow.

Is Bromhexine suitable for me?

Bromhexine may not be suitable for everyone. Avoid using it:

• If you have an allergy to bromhexine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
• If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
• If you have a rare hereditary disease that could be incompatible with any of the excipients in the medicine.
• If you are administering it to children under 6 years of age.

How should I take it?

When taking tablets:

• Adults and children over 12 years should take 1 tablet (8 mg) three times a day.
• Children aged 6-12 years should take ½ tablet (4 mg) three times a day.
• At the beginning of treatment, the daily dose for adult patients may be increased to 48 mg.
