Diclac 5% Gel: Description and Uses

Diclac gel is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and painkiller. It is used topically to alleviate pain, inflammation, and swelling in the following conditions:

  • Rheumatological disorders of soft tissues, such as tendonitis, tendovaginitis, bursitis, and painful immobility of the shoulder, as well as inflammation of the muscles and joints.
  • Degenerative joint disorders, including arthrosis of both large and small joints in the limbs and the spinal cord area.
  • Sport and domestic injuries, such as sprains, injuries, and strains.

Diclac Gel: Application and Usage

Diclac gel is applied topically to relieve pain, inflammation, and edema in the following conditions:
  • Rheumatic diseases affecting soft tissues, including inflammation of tendons and ligaments (tendinitis, bursitis, tendovaginitis), painful shoulder stiffness, and inflammation of muscles and joints.
  • Degenerative joint diseases, such as arthrosis of small and large joints in the limbs and the spine.
  • Sports and household injuries, including sprains, bruises, and strains.

Precautions and Warnings: Before Using Diclac Gel

Do not use Diclac gel if you:
  • Are allergic to diclofenac or any other ingredients listed in section 6 of the package.
  • Have open wounds, damaged skin areas, skin inflammation, or skin infections.
  • Have mucous membrane conditions.
  • Experience an asthma attack, rash, or fever after taking acetylsalicylic acid/aspirin or other NSAIDs.
  • Are a child or adolescent.
  • Are in the last three months of pregnancy.

Important Precautions:

  • If you have asthma, hay fever, nasal polyps, chronic lung disease, or chronic respiratory infections, there is a higher risk of asthma attacks and skin/mucosal swelling when using Diclac gel compared to other patients. Use under physician supervision is required.
  • Avoid contact of the gel with your eyes or mucous membranes.

Interactions with Other Medications

There are unlikely to be any drug interactions when using Diclac gel. However, inform your doctor if you are currently taking or have recently taken any other medications.

Diclac Usage in Children and Adolescents

Gel should not be used in children and adolescents due to insufficient data for this age group.

Fertility, Pregnancy, and Lactation

  • Women of childbearing age: No specific recommendations are available.
  • Pregnancy: Diclofenac gel should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the last three months.
  • Breastfeeding: The use of diclofenac gel during lactation is not recommended. If necessary, avoid applying it around the chest and limit its use.

Storage of Diclac Gel

Store Diclac gel below 25°C. Keep it out of reach of children. Do not use the gel after the expiration date indicated on the packaging. The shelf life after opening the tube is 12 months.

Diclac Contents and Package Information

Gel contains diclofenac sodium as the active ingredient. Each gram of gel contains 50 mg of diclofenac sodium. The other ingredients are hypromellose, macrogol-7 glycerol cocoate, aromatic substance, and purified water.

Gel is available in original packages of 50 g and 100 g.
